The traditional design studio conjures up a place, space and setting where designers sketch, draw, build physical models, and propose projects in a shared creative environment. In this, the studio represents hands-on experimenting, collaborating and making stuff. Indeed, in the context of education, the studio embodies the creative learning process, including ideation, where there is no clear border between theory and practice. But in the digital age, designers, both in professional practice and education are experiencing a transition from the physical to the virtual studio as reflected in online working and learning and the use of AI technologies. However, designers, as problem solvers, are apt at adjusting to new materials, conditions and methods resulting in the blended design studio that bridges the physical and virtual worlds of creativity.
